I almost forgot to write about today, seeing as I've already written two herendously long blogs today. By the way, I forgot to mention a couple things in the last entries that I will just say now. On Friday, when we were at the juice stand for 4 hours, I told Ronald I wanted to drive his scooter and he said okay. I asked for the keys and they were in the ignition already. I think I was more scared that I was taking his scooter out then he was. I didn't go very far because in case I did happen to crash, there was no one with me. But, I realize that you can get whatever you want around here, you just have to ask.
Then, on Saturday, I wrote about the first creeper we met, but I forgot to write about the second creeper. We were headed into an MRT station, I think we were headed to our last night market. There was a guy from Gambia standing on the stairs. He said "Hello, how are you?" we're good, how are you doing? "I am good. It is nice to meet you, when can I meet you again?" uh, whenever you come Hualien, that's where we live. Then he got Nancy's email and we were able to escape. Funny thing is, he actually wrote her and has been chatting with her on and off today.
Okay, but my Sunday... I was so tired. I got about 6 hours of sleep, but it wasn't enough to catch up with what I miss everyday of the week when I can't fall asleep for hours, nor was it enough to make up for only sleeping 2 hours Friday night just to spend all day on my feet on Friday.
But, Relief Society was good because one of the girls in the branch who speaks good English was actually able to come (she works at the hospital and has had to work every Sunday I've been here) was able to come and so she was our translator. So, she didn't do it the whole time, but she gave us the gist of the lesson, which is better then regular.
Sunday school was taught by a different lady, which made it easier for the missionaries to translate for us because she sticks to one topic and doesn't ramble on and on about random stories that don't relate.
And then Sacrament meeting was fast and testimony meeting (don't worry, Nancy and I remembered this time- Luke and Kaylene on the other hand did not). The crazy lady (you know there's one in every ward/branch) did get up, but Elder Ware was able to translate hers better then normal, so we finally understood a little bit more about why they think she's the crazy one.
After church we stayed around for an hour and talked to a few people. Then, we came home and napped. I didn't mean to be out for long, but apparently my alarm is no longer affective. I ended up sleeping for like 2 hours when I meant to sleep for 1. I think that's why I'm still up right now. It's 11:20pm, so I really want to be in bed, but considering that almost every night I'll get into bed and not be able to fall asleep for over an hour, and the whole time I'm thinking about other things I could be doing, I've decided not to get into bed just yet.
Nancy and I made some incredible teriyaki chicken for dinner with rice and broccoli. It was super easy too. You just mix soy sauce and orange soda, and apparently it makes teriyaki sauce.
And then I've been blogging and checking email and working on lesson plans.
Dang shoot, one more thing I forgot to mention. I did buy one more souvenir in Taipei. I got a hymn book that has the Chinese characters and the pinyin. Most of the hymn books in church only have the characters, and so I usually have to share a tiny hymn book with Nancy to read the pinyin, but I decided that as long as we were at the distribution center, a Chinese hymn book would make a pretty good souvenir. Plus, it was only 135 NT$, which is maybe $4, so I was happy. It'll be really useful while I'm here, and it will be really fun when I go home.
