A Little Bit of Normalcy

And by normal, I mean Taiwan normal, and I do mean a little. I think that I wrote about how Ronald was in the hospital for 10 days and so when I got back from Thailand he wasn't at the juice shop, and I haven't gotten too much juice in the last week so I haven't seen him very much. But tonight, I decided I wanted juice for dinner and so I went and we talked like old times. Well, I'm back before 9pm, so it's not quite like old times, but it was a much needed comfort. It was funny though because Luke came to get juice for him and Kaylene and he asked what I was up to tonight. I told him that I came to get dinner and I'd been there ever since. He thought it was so funny that I would choose to spend my night at the juice stand. Um... was he oblivious to what Nancy and I did all the time? Plus, it's not like being in my room was a better option.

My run went well this morning. My digital watch poo-ed out on my and so I don't know how long the run took me today, but I only did the regular length, no extension. I felt really good after ward. I think that means that I should have picked up the pace more. For breakfast I had an egg and a piece of toast. I was going to make oatmeal and cut up apple to put in it, but I needed to have an egg. In my morning class I taught about team work and so as an introduction to the topic I told the story of Humptey Dumptey because all the kings horses and all the kings men worked together to try and put Humptey together again (never mind the fact that they were unsuccessful). Nancy had a hard boiled egg in the fridge...yes, Nancy, not Natalie. And so I put a face on that as my initially Humptey and the egg I ate for breakfast was my fallen-off-the-wall Humptey.

My middle class was on water safety and how to be safe while swimming. It was so hot today that I wanted so very much to have taken the kids on a field trip to the pool. It was killer talking about the water while I was standing up there sweating (the fan doesn't circulate all the way to the front of the room for some lame reason). Plus, I was putting on sunscreen during class (I was headed out in the sun at lunch so I decided to pre-prepare) and I don't like the smell of sunscreen, but it reminds me of the beach and of swimming, so I can stand it. Well, when I know I'm not going to the beach and I'm not going swimming, the nasty smell of sunscreen is that much worse.

I'll just mention my lunch break very quickly, it's better that way. Today I showed Natalie the Taoist Temple that is closest to our house. Yeah. I explored a few more places that I hadn't when Nancy took me so it was good. I took some more pictures- some are repeat pictures, but some are new. (It's more of a hastle to get pictures off of my new camera and so I haven't sat down and done it yet, sorry.)

My afternoon lesson was on owls. I didn't have too many props, but I think it went well anyway. Since we are the OWL preschool, I knew that they knew enough about what an owl looks like that I didn't have to do a power point. And after the lesson we went on an owl outside. We were just looking for pictures of owls, but it still got them up and moving, and made me have to teach a little less, so it was a good activity in my eyes.

I had my tutoring class after school. It's supposed to start at 5pm, but when 5pm rolled around, there was only one kid. I was worried that it had been canceled for some reason (it got canceled last Monday) but it turns out that they were all just late. So I had 4 out of the 5 regular students because Angel went to Taipei for the day. I'm not sure why, but that's what her brother (4 year old Jimmy) told me.

As I was coming out of tutoring I saw Natalie and she told me she was heading out to dinner. She was just going to grab something from the bakery and I wanted juice and so we went our separate ways. I've already talked about how I went to the juice stand for dinner, but after hanging out with Ronald I rode my bike out to one of the running trails and sat for 5-10 minutes and looked at the moon and the mountains and the lights. There were even a couple fireworks being shot off. They were piddly little fireworks, but it added to the view and it was nice. I had no idea what time it was and so I decided that I should head back before too long. When I got home it was only 9:30 pm, not bad, not bad at all. So, I immediately jumped online to complete this blog. Now that I'm done, it's scripture time and bed time. Zaijian (good-bye).
